FSMVU Opens Its Doors To A New International Community For 2026–2027

Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University welcomed its new international and exchange students for the 2026–2027 academic year with an orientation program organized by the Directorate of International Relations. Designed to support students as they begin their studies at FSMVU, the program provided practical information on academic and campus life while introducing students to Istanbul, Turkish culture, and the University's international community.

The program featured two sessions tailored to different student groups: one for newly enrolled international students and another for Erasmus+ and exchange students. The international student session brought together students from more than 30 countries, while the exchange student session welcomed 22 students from 11 partner universities across 7 countries. Both sessions provided an overview of academic and campus life at FSMVU, while introducing students to the support services, resources, and opportunities available to them. Students also received practical guidance on academic matters and everyday life in Istanbul.

As part of the program, FSMVU TUMER introduced students to the University's Turkish language learning opportunities, highlighting programs designed to help international and exchange students develop their Turkish language skills and engage more closely with Turkish culture and everyday life.

The program also included campus tours, giving students the opportunity to explore FSMVU's facilities and historical surroundings. The tours included a visit to the Yenikapı Mevlevihane, offering students an opportunity to experience an important part of Istanbul's cultural heritage while becoming familiar with their new academic environment. During the exchange student tour, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Turan Gökçe also met with the students, welcomed them to FSMVU, and shared his best wishes for a successful and rewarding experience.

Turkish culture and hospitality were also important parts of both sessions. Students enjoyed traditional Turkish tea and sweets while getting to know one another, sharing their cultures, and building new friendships. These informal moments created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, helping students from different countries connect and feel part of the FSMVU community from the very beginning of their university experience.
